【Why should we pay for plastic bags?】なぜごみ袋は有料なのか?

Garbage disposal is very expensive. By paying for the plastic bags, you defray expenses a little.

【Why do we sort refuse according to type?】なぜごみ袋が分かれているのか?

The plastic bags are separated into two groups: burnable and non-burnable. We separate recycled resources from other garbage in order to preserve our precious global resources.
At garbage disposal facilities, too, they burn or crush garbage by type. They do not employ the burying of garbage.
For that reason, we separate the plastic bags before garbage is collected, according to the method of disposal.

【Where should we take out the garbage?】ごみの集積所とは?

Please take out all of your garbage to a collecting place in your community. Garbage collectors (dustmen) collect and carry it to garbage disposal facilities.
In Kani city (and most areas in Japan too!), they will not collect your garbage if it is left anywhere but the designated place at the designated time.
There is also a risk that dogs or cats may tear bags into pieces during the night, and scatter the garbage around. Community members would then have to clean it up. One person who does not follow the rules can annoy many people, so please remember the rules and observe them.
Each country has different methods and different customs concerning garbage disposal. However we would like to ask for your cooperation in order for us to live comfortably alongside each other. Thank you.
